Weil Family donates $100,000 to SPAWP!

We are thrilled and honored that the Pat and Chris Weil Family Foundation donated $100,000 to the Summer Program for the Advancement of Women in Philosophy (SPAWP), a program seeking to correct the gender imbalance in philosophy! This donation was matched dollar for dollar by the UC San Diego Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor. We are deeply grateful to all our generous donors!

Previous philanthropic gifts have supported…

undergraduate education financing of a senior in the department who pursues advanced education,
publication of our undergraduate capstone journal, Intuitions, and
endowed chairs such as the “Henry E. Allison Chair in the History of Philosophy" and the "Valtz Family Chair in Philosophy”.

Future gifts to the department could support…

graduate student fellowships allowing our students to focus on research,
Ethics in the Public Sphere series of talks on topics of relevance to the community, and
contributions to house our department in a new building, part of the North Torrey Pines Living and Learning Neighborhood.
